So you may have noticed that my daily postings were on hold the last two days. The cause of that was a combination of more rain - which limited our outings a bit - and Augustine coming down with the first bad cold since we've been here.
While the rain continued, yet again, today... Augustine was doing much better so we ventured out despite the on and off rain.
Today's outing consisted of a visit to a local park/playground and a walk along Janiculum Hill. Despite the rain, the views are always amazing from that vantage point and really give you a great feel of the city. All in all, a successful reintroduction to the world post hunkering down to fight the cold.
The pictures from today's posting are of one of our walks in the middle of the week. Like today, it was a day of on and off rain. Yet even
with the elements against us, we managed a long walk around the Forum. The first shot was taken just by the western Forum fence in a little part of old wall that seemed to be cut out perfectly for a kiddie photo op. They thought it was great hiding out in the wall and kept asking if I could see them. (Which of course I could).
The other four shots give you a good sense of the rapidly changing skies in Rome. First is the sky just as the clouds from a very quick and very hard storm pass to our east.
The next two shots show the sky about 2 minutes later as we went from the eastern side of a Tiber bridge to the middle of the bridge. You can see it turnded into a beautiful blue color.
Then, just as quickly, it darkens and the sun comes out. (We'd crossed the bridge by this point - another 2 minutes) and shot this photo of the sun shining on Tiber Island.
